Oklahoma and Watermelon

Thursday, April 19

Because all other important legilation has already been written and signed into law, Sen. Don Barrington (R-Lawton) sponsored a bill in the Senate Tuesday to declare the watermelon the state vegetable.
"The controversy on whether watermelon is a fruit or vegetable has been officially decided by the Oklahoma Legislature," Barrington said. He said watermelon comes from the cucumber and gourd families, which are classified as vegetables.
The bill now goes to Gov. Brad Henry.

My thoughts:
1) Great... Oklahomans are bright and intelligent and good people, but this makes us look like idiots
2) Shouldn't the gov't be doing something more better good with their time?
3) You know, I really do like watermelon... I wonder where I can get some?
4) It'll be fun to be in Oklahoma this evening and discuss the difference of fruits and vegetables (it's just the seeds, right?)
