link: Ninja jumps man's wife. Wife screams. Husband, insteantly awake, grabs his gun. Husband shoots ninja. But, was the husband a pirate? Better, is it too soon to point out the surreal nature of this story?

The police chief, Chief Wiggum style, pointed out: "It's really frightening if this is a random act."
Makes me wonder, would a series of related Ninja fatalities be less frightening? I'm still hesitant to use a Ninja Turtle reference since someone died, but... it's all too weird.

midnight in the garden of ashes and dreams
actually occurs at 2am, it seems

the rainclouds cover the gulf region as you sleep
and I sit awake, wondering many things

Thinking of getting a new cell since my numbers are sticking quite a bit. Anyone have a RAZR or have an opinion on 'em or an alternate suggestion?

The Partisan's blinking blue lights

Tuesday, February 21

He pulls his jacket tighter and sets his feet in motion
Ambition and commitment
Style and grace

Swirls of coffee scent,
Smoke on his breath,
Raindrops kissing his lips

He is listening to Leonard Cohen sing in french of shadows
Paul Simon sings of naked lights and the sounds of silence
Then he pauses under blue neon to remember Christmas lights on lakewater

A small chemical electrical crush
And other lovely and terrible things
Cover his heart and escape in the fog of his breath

This is how I walk against your soft skin and die intellectual suicide for you
Impossible to maintain, your ways, clouds of sawdust,
This is not what you wake up to when you think of amazing things

Speak to me
Write your initials in the water
Pull me against it

Your blind eye and silent lips
Biting the sex off your soulful posturing

The sunlight is distant
The guitar chords vibrate
But you don’t recognize the gift
You bring to me only silence

I need an old sweater
Winter clothes
Long sleeves to hide my arms as I stretch
And reach for my Guinness pint
Hiding my secrets close to my heart

I want to steal you

[edit me]

Thursday, February 9

Nothing to write
Not enough cough medicine in my system
Or too much

I have felt that something is wrong
That something bad is going to happen
To me or to someone in my family, perhaps

I don’t want to believe that
I’d rather find out that I have grown a healthy paranoia in response to natural events
But what fun is that?

It burns when I breathe
And when I dream of you sitting near me
And I feel the lack of moisture in the air

I squint, and I see tiny rotating red drops
I see molecules and atoms coalescing into chemicals
Chemicals that rise and fall with your breath

Marketing companies run advertisements about diamonds and silver
To equate love with objects for the upcoming holiday
But we all know love is chemical and about as random as a natural catastrophe

If ominous tides are approaching
And I am sensing their growth
Perhaps I can turn a chemical storm into a night of stardust

That’s my guess
At least
What’s yours?

---------------------------------

A thunder cloud rolling around the sky
Tossing the oceans into the water
Pulling raindrops upward in an arc or fountain
Into the sky

A pretty girl smiles at me as I travel along my way
Pressing me against the wall and sliding down my spine
I think of you

Hop across the atmosphere and give me a kiss
Wait in the sunshine
Your skin is a crisp dizzy rainbow

---------------------------------

In my fitful sleep
You wait, restless, arching across my bed
Diagonal and languid

You are dangerous
You are seductive
And I enjoy every weakness, every flood, every sugar-cane hangover you bring me

I begin again across the street
Conscious of the sun on my skin
Denying all my chemicals and love

We eat peaches because we can
We talk
We write stories to display the messages of our hidden chemical transmissions

It would have all been worth it
If you would just wake up
If you would remember what made you so happy
If you would just wake up

Please let some good come from this bad situation to come
I don’t mind if you let Delilah get paid
If I can feel the wind through my hair again

It’s the Piper
With wax on his wings
Humming his chorus to himself
With white earbuds, Live on stage
Dressed in black with white edges flowing over him and around him
Like the inventor
He is a writer; he never forgets

link to NY Times article: A European newspaper cartoon which "include[s] a drawing of the prophet [Muhammad] who founded Islam wearing a turban shaped like a bomb" are angering Palestineans...

"We are angry — very, very, very angry" a female member of Hamas and the Parliament said. Saudi Arabia and Syria have recalled their ambassadors to Denmark and the Danish government is summoning its foreign envoys to talks over the issue.

Is this progress or just overreacting? It's good these groups are talking, but isn't a cartoon sometimes just a cartoon?
