Thievery Gone Wrong

Tuesday, March 29

"Police have seized a digital camera containing photographs of the smiling teens doing 'gangsta' poses with bundles of stolen notes in a Denver McDonald's just hours after their heist... After committing the robbery, the men then raced up a ski lift and snowboarded several kilometres to a car park where they changed clothes, took a bus to McDonald's and photographed themselves with the bundled notes." They later hired a limo to drive them to the airport for their getaway.

Two more important notes:
1) The two used television crime shows as their inspiration for the robbery
2) Their neighbor is quoted, "I was playing my Xbox killing SWAT guys and then I went outside and there were SWAT guys all over the place"

A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both.
--Francoise Rene Auguste Chateaubriand

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.

Love Softens Men, Strengthens Women

"If a man and a woman are in love, the bewitched fellow loses testosterone — a hormone linked to strength and aggressiveness — while his female partner actually gains some of the potent male hormone and its effects ... Blood test also revealed that all people in love, both men and women, gain heightened levels of cortisol, a hormone linked to stress ... (Love) can come and go over and over again but, because it is an energy-consuming process, the organism cannot tolerate it for too long."

Denver Hippies Protest Something

Alcoho bad, pot good, say hippies from Denver.
If a fraternity told a freshman to go into the woods and smoke a pound of pot, he is not going to die from that,' said Tvert, a recent University of Virginia graduate. 'He'll fall asleep before that happens.

Are all hippies from Denver named Tvert?

Foghat, etc.

Monday, March 21

High-schooler goes on hunger strike to get Principal to change lunch bell to the classic Foghat song "Slowride" ... what's great is that Foghat even evidently gave their permission to make it "all good" legally. More about this great kid who I am betting watches a good amount of Dazed and Confused:
Daniel previously distinguished himself at Bonita Vista High by having an apprentice – a student who followed him everywhere, addressed him as "The Daniel," performed menial tasks for him and dressed like him. That meant wearing a derby hat and carrying a pocket watch.

Daniel had 10 applicants for a second apprentice. They submitted résumés providing references, listing favorite television shows and answering questions such as, "If Daniel were to decide to miss school to watch 'Montel,' would the apprentice write down a short synopsis of what Daniel missed that day at school?"

You should have been there
The rain on the cement was invisible
But the reflection of the trees and lightning
Brightened the road and joined

My thoughts
Unfragmented while I enjoyed
The sight

If I had a camera it would not have been as perfect

I promise, this is the only story about the Jackson trial I'll blog about. Truthfully, I could care less about it. But this story is about pizza, and I love that stuff.

The Olive Garden heard a CNN report that the jurors were starving to death... So they sent over a bunch of pizzas.

I've had a lot of thoughts that are still brewing inside me. Well, more than thoughts, just feelings and awareness. Thinking without words, without pictures, just with somatic calculations and abstract reawakenings. I don't even mean to use these words, they just mean something to me these days.

And I've put so many things off. It's time to not be so busy. It's time to do that thing you meant to do last week and each week before that. It's time to use your eyes, use your muscles, use your self. It's time to end the long winter sleep. Melt your snow. Approach. Don't deny. You need this. It's time to put things in order. Touch. Smell. Remember. Slowly; always. I had coffee and doughnuts and pop-tarts today. Don't you love it?

There is a protein named Sonic Hedgehog, named for the character from the Sega video game. If studying physiology all afternoon has taught me nothing else, it has taught me this.
