FYI: Hostess Twinkies were originally filled with banana filling. The filling was changed during World War II when the United States experienced a banana shortage. More

This week: Food poisoning.

So I have an unhappy cold. And so I just had a Hot Toddy. Try one next time you get the sniffles.
"Add hot water to a shot of whiskey or brandy with some whole cloves and a slice of ginger. Allow to cool a little and then add the juice of a fresh lemon and some manuka honey. Serve with a cinnamon stick, if liked." If you need a recipe, try this one:
Hot Toddy
2 ounces of boiling water
1 teaspoon of honey
3 whole cloves
1 slice lemon
2 ounces of rum or bourbon or whiskey (or substitute 2 ounces of cranberry juice)
dash of nutmeg
cinnamon stick as a stirrer

I love you like I love the sun in the morning, but I don't think a few words of mine are gonna make you change your mind, I'm gonna spend the day in bed and I'm planning on sleeping my life away
You'd better come right down and do it all over again.

I miss those small moments when I would see the clouds in the sky and feel like I was as important as they are. Seeing the moon reflect sunlight. I miss those small moments which caught up to me between moments when I shared my thoughts with the whole world with each breath on my lips. I miss thinking that the smoke from my lungs in the cold morning air was magical. I miss enjoying the rain.

it's freezing in my apartment. my Vail t-shirt is resting on my empty bed. the air on the walk home was clear and peaceful. tires on wet cement. songs from a lesser known Verve album mingled with the air. everything calm. everything clear. my choice. to be here. to have this. that moment when the silence loudly rushes your eardrum. sharp sounds, the volume of silence deafening as he brushes your hair from behind your ear. it is the rush of the world.

Songs that remind me to listen with care
Friday, February 4
You and Whose Army? - Radiohead
Life on Mars - David Bowie
Velvet Goldmine - David Bowie
You Never Give Me Your Money - the Beatles
I decided that these songs go together... and I decided to give up on my search for a "subjective link in terms of style or emotional resonance" and my attempt to find other songs which will "fit together" with these songs. Things just happen. Musically. With life. Some days you wake up and the rain against your window blends into you, and some days the drops just pass you by...

if you are dancing, you are a firefly
if you wake up with a darkened heart
warm liquid fills your body
new music passing over you like a river of experience you could never hold close
the road fluctuates
we spin, determining affairs of the heart

warms into a firefly

And I just can't live without you; can't you see it in my eyes?

When I Was in Mexico
I heard this song in my head, almost constantly:
"Mama was queen of the mambo
Papa was king of the Congo
Deep down in a jungle
I started banging my first bongo"
You are a beautiful person, in a wistful kind of way. If you could, you would spend all your time daydreaming and writing poetry. You are a tragic beauty.

You are sensitive and caring, and you don't take insults well. You don't smile much, but when you do, you really mean it.
People like to be around you because you are a calming influence. You have an appreciation for all things beautiful, and you probably have some potted plants. You also most likely own a cat.
You like Sundays and hot tea. You will spend your entire life yearning for quiet beauty, which is a rarity in this world, so you read a lot.
Everyone you know thinks you're "nice."
