this is why I ask people not to drive so close to other cars

Saturday, August 20

I was rear-ended yesterday. My mother and I sat in my Chevrolet, waiting for a car in front of us to turn left; then a slow motion moment filled with sounds of squealing tires and large metal vehicles being crumpling up into smaller metal vehicles. After 3 to 5 seconds of a daze, I decided to take my foot off the brake, though for some reason it was now under the brake pedal. The impact was adequate to remove my flip-flops from my feet.

No one was hurt badly. It was a four car accident. My car was #2 of 4.

[Car turning left] -- [MY CAR] -- [6 month old Pontiac Grand Prix] -- [SUV going 50- mph]

My mother is fine; I hurt, mostly in my neck. It hurts to swallow, a bit. Mostly, I am sleepy from the medicine I am trying not to take.

Today I took my car in for the repair estimate. The 5 year old car does not look too bad outwardly:
dealer trade in bluebook value of my car: 2500$
guestimate from repair guy who will take my car apart Monday to estimate true cost of repair: 2500$
Please, drive safe tonight.

UPDATE: I feel much better. Rest done me good.
