If you want to start a full scale debate at your next happy hour, you might consider mentioning the 'fifth taste' umami: "In recent years some workers have added a fifth taste, umami, to the other four, though western food scientists are divided about whether it really exists or not."

I am a graduate student who currently lives in Austin, Texas. Like many in my position, I am good at wasting time, procrastinating, and the like.
