A Graduate Student Avoiding his Ph.D., Being Productive,

Slashdot (news for geeks) on college life: This discussion has some interesting highlights. Thanks Andrew for the read.

"Amen. The quintessential college experience summed up in 7 easy steps. I'd like to add a couple very important points. Women love Jagermeister. Always keep some in your room so you can offer it to that hot girl you just met in the quad. Also, the hot chicks are all taking Psych or Sociology."

Later, "I do highly recommend entomology if you can take some of those classes. I've met many a very cute, super-cool bug-loving girl in my day, and have found their worth and demeanor to be much more reliable."

Volleyball sand. And to see the mountains others miss.
To be unblind.

Jeff on the Daily Show and Politics: "Bush's use of catch-phrase-bombardment wins out in any debate. Not because it's correct--just because it's repeated so much that it can't help but sink into public consciousness, subtly becoming a vague fact. Bush excels at this level. And he will win because of it.(Once I finish it, I'll recommend All The President's Spin, a wonderful book detailing the administration's frankly disgusting over-use of PR tactics to push forth its agendas.)"

And, damnit if 2 of 3 of Jeff's quotable Monday quotes weren't the same highlights of my ReplayTV day. By the way, I will never watch commercials when it is not the Super-Bowl again. I'll buy stuff I need or want on my own, thanks.

Your recommended Film Noir - Western written by two Japanese starring C. Walken and B. Willis, Last Man Standing . Rated a little over 5/10 on IMDB. Maybe it's not that accessible to most.

Blind Melon Lyrics - Life Ain't So Shitty Lyrics

Friday, August 27

Shannon Hoon's - Life Ain't So Shitty:

Life ain't so shitty
There's a lot that you can be
And ain't it a pity
But its alright to smile back at me
And if we both go there
We can count on problems that we might not necessarily
Come in contact with,
Hey wake up, do you know where I'm coming from

red hunter - good & evil

Tuesday, August 10

red hunter - good & evil; red hunter is an amazing performer I saw two months ago. he travels around the country, and plays for free I suppose, and is understated to most effectively scream his visions--

A quote about his 2 disk album (on which he hand draws, like all his albums): "a double-EP blaming everyone for war. bunch of bastards. sure, it would fit on one disc, but then it wouldn't be a double album. (psychological motivator: bulk) so it costs more"

Watched "Lonestar State of Mind"... you will get it if you are from Oklahoma or Texas. Then, in an Oklahoma moment, we call our lawyer friend who was supposed to show up a couple hours prior. I ask him where he is. "The dorms". What are you doing there? Silence. Why are you at the dorms? "Evil". Okay, I'm coming to get you.

I find him, minus one flip-flop. On the drive back to safety, he coins this gem: "You know what I don't like about satellite communications? You can be laying in a field and the girlfriend can find you."

New Pepsi campaign will label its products with nutritional value - billingsgazette.com

Pepsi - nutritional?: According to some guy at Pepsico, "'Not everybody knows what the health benefits are of our products". I guess I applaud their efforts to be more descriptive in their nutrition information. Still, I see humor in this article.

If i was a serial killer i would be John Wayne Gacy .

If you ever had a reason to be afraid of clowns. This would be it.

Over the course of 3 years John Wayne Gacy, a part time children's party clown, would go on to sodomize, torture and murder over 30 young men, burying most of the bodies under the floor boards of his home.

Gacy would use a chloroform soaked rag to render his victims unconscious, then take them home and tie them up in his basement. He would then proceed to torture them sexually, using a varying range of dildos and sexual toys, eventually strangling them to death with a 2x4 while raping them.

kill count: 30+

Which serial killer you would be?

And...

by the way, don't see the Bourne Supremacy
it has many many flaws
of which I am prepared to discuss at length
here is one : "Somebody needs to tell filmmakers that holding a camera by hand and shaking it around is not artistic."
another is the severe lack of a female lead, etc.
