In the spirit of Texas randomness: El Paso is closer to California than to Dallas. Dr Pepper was invented in Waco TX in 1885. There is no period after Dr in Dr Pepper.

long 2 days of school. stress level is orange. had been a lot lower last week and weekend. now I am at school and doing some stuff... it's frightening because I went home and got food and watched the Simpsons and some of the Real World, and thought it was about 10:30, but it's only 7:30. :-] Scary stuff.

The Crush is a 80s cover band I saw in Austin last night... so good. I was impressed, and then they covered Hey Ya... Outkast, and I couldn't stop smiling. Great night: chill air, good company, seeing family, grape soda.

What's great about today is listening to the transcendent guitar on Guns N Roses: 'So fine', then the winamp gods bringing me the extended version of Talking Heads: 'Our house'.

I <3 Poor Ninjas: Ninja robber who calls to report his own petty gas-station robbery to get reward is recognized when testifying by the man robbed at said gas station.

Mr. Biscuit-hands-man did it, not me.

5-Year-Old thinks marijuana is oregano; 4-Year-Old thinks crack cocaine is flour. I can't understand this. I am confused. Aren't we teaching kids anything useful in school these days?

If these stories don't scare me... don't concern me in the least, does that mean I am jaded, liberal, healthy, or just that I don't have kids?

I forgot to mention earlier, Sonic Youth was killer. They made music out of noise, and had fun in so doing. There were reds and oranges all over. Guitar strings hummed with reverb and the joy of being played. And SY had the style to not crank the volume. Until the encores. Thurston: I am so glad the war is over.

Am I an overachiever? What do those people look like? How would I go about finding out if I am one? Let's discuss this over a Guinness pint... F* school, let's go watch Office Space.

did you read my horoscope for today? it said: "Answer the questions of the curious who see you as a living legend. This is what you get for participating in the world." Nice, huh?

Best rap song ever (this is a comment on our culture, if you question me I'll plead the fizznith): I don't want to make sex, eat chocalate, look at animals, take walk, no

I'm the kind of guy that can go from Bombs Over Baghdad: Bible Music Electric Revival to singing to myself a beautiful sweet love lost song --

Blonde on blonde is becoming sad to me now. But I still think you would be a better world if you had heard it: Nada Surf - "Blonde on Blonde".... on my portable stereo... it's a lullaby from a giant golden radio it's a lullaby ... from wonderwoman's radio. You can't hear the music when you read this, but it's there and it's great. Guns and Roses do a good instrumental Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

My mom commented on my favorite Austin landmark. She said it reminder her of Superman. I told her I call it the fortress of solitude. I am not sure what that means.

I write too much sweetness, from Serendipity to you...

Slow piano notes drift, they don't travel
Like you, and your head, running too fast
Off the cliff, what are you running from
Coming back to life can hurt like hell
Without the grace of your handshake
And the scent of sex and shampoo

I know bad music when I hear it.
But I don't know bad writing when I write it. It's all bad. I want to smile at you...

parents in town, had a good enchilada
I am resisting relaxing... I've put so much work into my education recently. It's amazing. And stupid. In a way. Sure, I want to get to my goals... but what about life? Exploring Austin... drinking coffee at midnight. I don't even really like coffee. I like the idea of coffee more than I like coffee itself. I'm like my brother. -- who turns 21 soon. He'll graduate from college, and then at midnight be 21. What a rip.

Geddie and kids are no longer going to Vegas. Heed is getting married this summer. I am too tired to even be weirded out. So I'll leave you with some Ziggy Stardust:
And he was alright, the band was all together
Yes he was alright, the song went on forever
Yes he was awful nice, Really quite out of sight
And he sang all night long

Me speaking fast trying out a line I've been using for years on my roommate: "Thanks, I depreciate it"
Dave: "Depreciate it? That's funny dude"
No one has ever thought that was funny. I was pretty sure it was just me. Don't you love my blog?

proof of life swallowed by mother ocean
leaking excess conviction into the palm of my sand
my last vanity
will spin slower

Leonard Cohen:
No matter if the road is long
No matter if it's steep
No matter if the moon is gone
and the darkness is complete
No matter if we lose our way,
it's written that we'll meet,
At least that's what I heard you say
a thousand kisses deep

I used to know something I don't know...
Goodnight town,
