Dear friend,
Today was a long day. It is now after a long day. Or soon will be. I have really challenged myself today to see what is possible in the future. It is sometimes hard to see the forest, with all these trees around. It is. And I want to see the trees.
But I remember a bumper-sticker I saw here in Austin: That was Zen, this is Tao. I think about that. The past is full of powerful experiences, wonderful times, but right now, here and now, there is the Tao, there is the Way. The future is in the future, Zen is in the past. Today, tonight, tomorrow, there is whatever Tao I choose. And if I give up my fears, and I have trust, the way will show itself to me. I don't have to chase it. It is here already, around me, waiting for me to notice it. I love trees.
